Becoming

Back in 2014, blogging used to be fun, informative and supportive. Now it's all about opulence, attractiveness and mind numbing manipulation. Making strong confident women look vulnerable, making an ugly hearted person look sexy, making a harmful product look irresistible, LIKE !!! But WHY??? I wonder where all the sensible people went because without them it makes no sense for anyone of us to create sensible content on social media anymore. Life is a lot more than glamorous shots, luxurious vacations and body stereotypes in the name of artistic representation. People need to be more aware of the realities and how almost all of us are fundamentally living the same lives with similar joy and similar stress as well. People who glorify themselves on camera are not always living a glamorous life and people who live simple can often have more inspiring stories overlooked by society. Social Media itself isn't helping REALISM. Unless you look a certain way, spend a certain amount or promote a certain aspect, it will not let you reach your audience. Your true fans feel like you don't post anymore so the less they visit you the less your visibility gets. Social Media is pushing a narrative that is more lucrative and it's sad because there is no one in particular responsible for this paradigm shift. It's the you, me and the viewers and empowering what we watch the most. Amid all the unproductive entertainment, goodness is losing a battle it never asked for. So if you like someone's content, go visit their profile and check there posts. Just because you think they haven't been here in a while doesn't mean they aren't active. They may just be lost in a sea of stereotypes while trying to make sense of the World that you and I actually live in. All of us need each other. Don't let manipulation push you away from what you truly wish to see, read and empower.
